Majorca in the Nissan Titan Desert

Three teams from Majorca successfully completed the V edition of the Nissan Titan Desert of 500 kilometers from Er Rachidia to Ouarzazate. The beginning and the end of this race takes place in the Moroccan desert and is considered one of the world’s toughest mountain bike race. The event was celebrated from 1 to 8 May.

Tolo Quetglas, Xavier Morey and Xavier A. Reynés, from the “Herbes Túnel” team; Andrés Aznar, David Gelabert and Kiko Palou from the “Bimont Nutriesport” team; and Miquel Azlina, Tomeu Gelabert and Félix García from the “Cas Conill – Cala Ratjada” team were the members of the three Majorcan teams participating in the Nissan Titan Desert.

The race take place in a landscape marked by high temperatures, strong wind gusts, with sandy stretches combined with some very stony tracks, conditions that punish both cyclists as their mountain bikes.

After exceed the five stages that comprise the race, Roberto Heras took the overall victory for the second time in his career, while Nuria Jimenez took the win in the women. The Majorcan best placed team, the “Herbes Túnel”, finished ninth among more than 350 participants from the 2010 edition.
